His, Hers and Ours Bachelor and Bachelorette Party Ideas

words by // Eve Green

Bachelor and bachelorette parties should be as unique as each of the guests they honor. No one-size-fits-all type of party exists, but fear not – we have great ideas for you! If you aren’t interested in the classic weekend trip to Vegas, we’ve thought of some unique options no matter if your party is short, all day, or a weekend getaway.

Staying local or taking your bachelor party on the road, there are so many activities available to entertain your group of friends during those days leading up to your Big Day.

If you are opting for a shorter event to celebrate your upcoming nuptials, consider renting out a suite at a local sports event. Stadium suites usually come with a variety of packages that offer a range of all-inclusive food and drinks in addition to spectacular views. You can still root for the team, but your comfortable suite removed from the crowd allows you time to actually visit with each of your guests while you all enjoy the game.

For the groom with an appreciation for the history and production of prohibition era drinks or high quality beer, take your guys on a distillery or micro-brewery tour. You will get to sample and taste your favorite libations while getting behind the scenes access and learning how it’s made. These tours are a great way to get educated and be entertained while sipping spirits.

Sometimes the best way to celebrate your upcoming wedding is a weekend getaway. Destination bachelor parties continue to be a popular choice, although personally, we love locations that are a little more affordable and original. Head to New Orleans for a bachelor party on Bourbon Street. Birthplace of Jazz, the Big Easy won’t disappoint with its amazing live music and world renowned cuisine.

If you prefer to stick a little closer to home, consider Louisville, Kentucky. Also home to fantastic live music, the Derby City offers bourbon trails and, of course, horse racing. Plan a short trek from the Buckeye State to Bluegrass Country and its many activities and happenings for a fun-filled weekend.

For many brides, getting the gals together for a final hurrah before the wedding is a rite of passage. Commemorate this exciting occasion with a unique and classy bachelorette party you and your friends will fondly remember for years to come.

If you have foodie friends with an appreciation for fine cuisine, consider having a private chef prepare a gourmet dinner for you and your guests. This experience is more intimate and customized than dining out and perfect for smaller groups made up of people who will enjoy a long relaxing dinner. You can also opt for an interactive in-home cooking party where the chef teaches your group how to make fantastic appetizers or an entrée. Keep the party going after your meal and dial up the nostalgia as you head to your favorite local bars and enjoy a few celebratory drinks.

Could there exist a more perfect way to decompress from wedding planning stress than with a relaxing trip to the spa with your closest friends? Keep the sophisticated vibe of your day going with the idyllic scenery of a winery. Your mellow mood will continue as you tour the vineyard and enjoy wine tasting. Start in the morning and indulge in group manicures and pedicures followed by a Swedish massage. Remember to book makeup applications at the spa in advance so your group will be dazzling when it’s time to hit the vineyard. Your crew will love the calming atmosphere of the spa and will enjoy the chill while tasting wine and discovering deliciously perfect food pairings.

Skip the cross-country trip to Vegas and head for Nashville, Tennessee, where every season is bachelorette party season. Call it “Nashvegas” or Music City, this beloved historic and hopping destination has so much to offer! From the shopping to their local delicacies – you have to try the hot chicken! – to the fabulous and famous array of bars and live music on Broadway, it will be an unforgettable pre-wedding event. Complete your weekend with a trip to Music Row and visit Ryman Auditorium, home of the Grand Ole Opry, and the Country Music Hall of Fame.

If you prefer to ratchet down and relax, plan a low key getaway and take the girls to Charleston, South Carolina for a leisurely beach weekend. Charleston offers quaint views, delicious southern food and fine cuisine, and an opportunity for you and your friends to slow things down while exploring one of our country’s most beautiful historic cities.

If you and your partner share a lot of the same friends, consider joining forces for a combined party! This new trend of joint parties makes total sense. It’s perfect for brides, grooms, and same-sex couples who share friend groups. If you don’t want to go to the bother and expense, not to mention juggling the logistics of having two separate parties, bring everyone you love under one roof for a big celebration! You and your partner will have a blast celebrating your final single days together with all your closest friends.

When entertaining a large group of people a bar crawl is a classic choice and a crowd pleaser. One of our favorite ways to include a fun activity during your outing is to rent a party bike. Also known as a pedal crawler, pedal pub, beer bike, or bicycle bar, these vehicles usually accommodate up to 16 people who will imbibe and pedal along as the bike takes you from one stop to the next. This activity is a great way to bond with your group as you tour through the town.

Kick back and relax with a joint pool party followed by a cookout or barbeque. If you don’t have access to a private pool, check with local pools for rental options. If you want to have your party indoors or during the cooler months, take a day trip to an indoor water park to splash around with your friends and bask under the cabana with a cocktail.

It can be tough to find a great destination for a large group of people when it requires traveling a distance. That’s why we are so lucky to have the perfect joint party destination just a couple hours away at Put-in-Bay! Rent a lake home to accommodate all your guests and plan for your pre-wedding festivities to include fun on the water, a trip to the Put-in-Bay winery, and a night out at the array of bars and nightclubs on the island.

How you celebrate your final days of singledom is completely up to you. Now that most of the preparation and decision making are behind you, don’t feel the pressure to have a wild weekend away if you prefer something more low key and intimate. But, if you are ready to cut loose and have some drinks while enjoying a night out, give yourself a day – or weekend – off from the stress of wedding planning and focus on celebrating this most special occasion with your dearest friends!
