Real Wedding

Nick + Audra Bruecken Wedding | October 22, 2016

How They Met

Bride // Nick and I met in high school, he went to St. Francis and I went to St. Ursula, but we really didn't know each other until we graduated. I took a year off before moving to LA and visited friends at Ohio University a lot that year. Nick went to OU and we dated long distance for almost 6 years - Nick moved from Columbus, to Newport Beach to Philadelphia to LA - so when he proposed he used that as a theme. When I got home from work on a random Tuesday there was a candle lit path leading to our backyard. Along the path were notes, pictures and memories from each year we've been together. Starting back in 2008 all the way to today. As I got to the backyard he was on his knee. My two best friends were hiding in our bedroom with giant "Y" "E" "S" balloons.

Their Wedding

Bride // Being from Toledo, we knew this is where wanted to get married, and we had our hearts set on Toledo Country Club for the ceremony and reception. Nick grew up less than a mile away and I've always found the combination of fall leaves and those views to be breathtaking.
Planning the wedding from Los Angeles would have been impossible without the help of our eager mothers, the wonderful Brittany Craig and Anna Toney at Crowning Celebrations and Dolly Keyes at Toledo Country Club. Beth Hafner at Hafner's Florist made all my wedding flower dreams come true. Anna Zajac with Derks Works perfectly captured the essence of our wedding. Our guests sipped on our signature drink, Moscow Mules, while lighting up the dance floor to the sounds of the incredible Bluewater Kings Band. It has been a blast re-watching all the footage shot by Chance Duffy with Fordham Footage. Even though a late October wedding date was risky, the weather cooperated and it was better than we could have ever imagined.
