Jenny + Chris Wedding | May 19th
How They Met
The Bride // I grew up in Toledo but currently live in San Francisco. Chris and I met the San Francisco way: through a dating app. Our first date was at Palmer's cocktail bar on Fillmore Street in October 2016. The rest, as they say, is history. Chris proposed in December 2017 and then we returned to Palmer's, where it all began, to celebrate. Chris had arranged for some of our friends to be there, along with his family, and my best friend and mom who were visiting.
The Bride // Soon after we engaged, my mom was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer. When she entered hospice care in May, we moved our wedding up, arranging a small ceremony in Toledo so that all four of our parents could be present to witness and bless our union. We had just over two weeks to plan. Chris and I were married on Saturday, May 19, at Corpus Christi University Parish by Monsignor Michael Billian, who is a friend of our family and was wonderful to accommodate us on short notice. The reception was at The Chop House in downtown Toledo and I can't say enough good things about their service and Allison, the event coordinator. She did an amazing job - no detail was too small. Erin Schmidt was our photographer, we were very happy with her too. She has a wonderful eye. My Aunt Elizabeth made traditional Italian wedding cake - called cassata cake - which was served at both my sister and brother's weddings. We flew in Salt & Straw sea salt and caramel ribbons ice cream to go with the cake because it's one of our favorites in San Francisco. Bartz Viviano Flowers & Gifts (run by my brother and sister in law) did the flowers, which were gorgeous. My dad (former owner of Bartz Viviano) made the bouquet, which included lily of the valley from my grandmother's garden. The stems were wrapped in lace from her wedding dress.
