How They Met

The Bride // We actually met as young children but did not cross paths until about 18 years later. Mutual friends and chance meetings brought us back together and we had our first date at a hockey game with friends. My boyfriend proposed unexpectedly. I was coming home from a bachelorette party weekend and he knew I would want to go running to reset/recharge my batteries. He took me to a park we typically run at together but told me he had a new route to try. We started the route but he told me he had to use the restroom. We headed back to a main building and as we rounded the corner we both noticed a small animal tied to a fishing dock. I ran up to the dock to figure out what was going on with the abandoned dog and noticed a note around the dog’s neck. The note read "Hi! I'm Brewer my daddy wants you to be my mommy!" I turned around confused and my boyfriend was down on his knee with a ring box and asked me to be his wife.

Their Wedding

The Bride // For our wedding day I wanted simple with small details to incorporate our story. I chose a rose pink, navy and gold color palette for the day. We had a beautiful Catholic ceremony at Corpus Christi Church. During the ceremony all readings, songs and petitions were hand picked by us. I picked pink roses in honor of our Grandmothers (both named Rose). The bouquets and centerpieces incorporated pink roses as well. Instead of a traditional cake we chose to cut a small cake and offered our guests ice cream and popcorn treats instead. We also made sure to have a DIY photo station and sunglasses for the open air rooftop cocktail hour. I chose my dress based on gut feeling. I was not going to wear a dress that did not feel comfortable considering I would be in the dress for multiple hours straight. My groom and his groomsmen decided to purchase navy suits. I showed him a few sample style pictures and let the guys have free reign with the final decision.

I suggest budgeting in an event coordinator to help remove stress from yourself and other family members. Finally, hire vendors you trust. We loved every vendor we worked with and it made the day smooth and in my opinion "perfect".
