Eylene + Kevin Wedding | June 24th

How They Met

The Bride // We met at Chuck's on Monroe over 8 years ago. I was waiting for a beer that I ordered, and when the bartender came over with it, Kevin reached over my shoulder and paid the bartender for my beer. I turned around thinking, "who the heck is this?"

Kevin's proposal was perfect for me, because I don't like to be the center of attention. He also totally caught me off guard, because it happened on a weeknight after work and me going to the gym, then coming home sweaty and gross. He borrowed this convertible from his boss and said it was just to drive around for fun, and asked if I wanted to go get some food. I said I'd prefer getting carryout since we both had to work the next day and I wanted to be lazy on the couch. However he convinced me to hurry up and jump in the shower so we could go somewhere to eat. We went to dinner, then Kevin decided he wanted to randomly drive around town. It was a really warm and not-humid summer night, so it was nice to enjoy such a rare occasion of perfect weather in this area. I did start to wonder though after we had been driving for about an hour. I later found out that he was nervous, haha! For anyone that knows Kevin, this is just funny. He is outgoing, outspoken, confident (maybe sometimes overconfident), and in our 6-ish years of dating at that point, I had never seen him be nervous about anything, and the only thing he is ever unsure about is when I ask what he wants to eat. So anyway after the driving around for a long time, we pulled in our driveway at home. We got out of the car, and he asked me to push the button to close the convertible top, which is in the glovebox. I reached in the glovebox, there was a ring box in there, and he stood there and just laughed and said, "Oh, what is that?" I pulled the ring box out, opened it, and said something like, "Are you serious?" And that wasn't about the ring, which he did an amazing job on; I was just really surprised at what was happening. So in Kevin fashion, he did not get down on one knee, but he stood there laughing and I think he just said, "Well..?" And I obviously said yes, then called my parents, stayed up late, decided not to go into work the next day, and lived happily ever after.

Their Wedding

The Bride // We could not have asked for a more amazing and gorgeous wedding day. The day before it was pouring down rain, which made me really nervous. But our wedding day ended up being in the upper 70's, low humidity, with partly cloudy skies, which meant the sun just perfectly peeked through without blinding everyone and causing a lot of squinty pictures. Our vendors all showed up early or on time, and followed through above and beyond their commitments. I think most wedding vendors are in the industry because they are truly passionate about what they're doing, and it was really visible with everyone working so seamlessly together and making sure we did not have to stress out at all. Our venue, Stone Ridge Golf Club, is such a peaceful and beautiful space. And the sunset was amazing out there, because the whole course is kind of semi-secluded, and there aren't a ton of trees or other buildings; there are just wide open spaces. The reception room has an outdoor patio area that spans the whole length of the room, and in the evening, we got to open the doors and enjoy the absolutely perfect summer night with all our family and friends. I would not have changed anything, and I will cherish the memories forever.
